Perhaps it was because, in refusing to engage with the characters beyond the level of archetypes (or even stereotypes), I felt that Tarkovsky failed at really deeply engaging the philosophical issues at hand. But hey, I only watched it the once. Like I said, the visuals were stunning, all the more so because they were stunning in their simplicity.<BR/><BR/>I've always wanted to give SOLARIS a try--I mean, I even liked the Soderburgh version.Bradhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10638457313380556662noreply@blogger.com
